NBA Playoff Eliminations + Maintaining Elite Performance
Psych & Such | 4 June 2021
In the debate of who is the greatest of all time: Jordan versus James? You'll find me on team Jordan. However, James is a close second regarding G.O.A.T. status.
LeBron James is an incredible player, with jaw-dropping skills, and a relentless determination for excellence. I admire his talents, work ethic, and ability to perform in moments both big and small.
Last night, James and the Los Angeles Lakers were eliminated from the first round of the NBA Playoffs. There were plenty of obstacles and barriers that the Lakers experienced throughout the regular season and into the playoffs that didn't allow for their success. Mostly we are talking about injury. Arguably though, every team faces their own set of obstacles and barriers that lessens the likelihood for success. Regardless, throughout James's career, he has never been eliminated from the playoffs in the first round. Ever. Until last night.
What can we learn from James being dethroned in round 1?
Unlike LeBron, you may not be the G.O.A.T. of anything, but have you recently let up on the gas in areas that you are generally determined?
- If so, what value can you leverage to breathe life back into your pursuits?
Have others in your field made adjustments and found new ways of executing while you have been too slow to adopt?
- If so, what new strategies, certifications, training, etc. can you complete or learn that would help you elevate to the next level?
Unlike LeBron, you may not be facing nagging injuries, but have you found yourself dealing with other plaguing issues that impact your performances such as burnout or stress?
- If so, where can you carve out time in your day to engage in life-giving activities that recover your energy, stabilize your emotions, and offers you cognitive clarity?
